Working For Public Interest
A critical aspect of my practice has always been a keen commitment to public interest litigation (PIL). I have sought to leverage the power of the law to address widespread issues, impacting not only individual rights and freedoms but also broader societal structures and mechanisms. Through PIL, I have represented citizens and groups to safeguard public rights and ensure the accountability of public institutions.
Notable Public Interest Litigation
Writ Against the Feni River Agreement with India:
In a landmark move, I challenged the Feni River Agreement with India on grounds that it undermined the interest of Bangladesh. The case underscored my dedication to advocating for national interests and preserving our country's natural resources.
Writ Against Onion Prices Crisis:
In a time of severe economic stress when the price of onions skyrocketed to over 400 taka, due to the export ban by India, I fought for the rights of everyday consumers in Bangladesh. I filed a writ petition advocating for the import of onions from different countries, thereby ensuring market stability and protecting consumers from undue financial strain.
Writ For Safeguarding Foreign Reserves :
I moved to protect the foreign reserves of Bangladesh kept in the Federal Reserve Bank against potential harm from the US government due to their interference in Bangladesh's internal affairs. This was an instrumental step towards safeguarding our country's financial autonomy and sovereignty.
Writ To Ban Hilsha Fish Export To India:
When Hilsha fish was being exported to India at prices lower than the local market rate in Bangladesh, threatening our local economy, I filed a writ petition to ban the export of Hilsha Fish to India. This case reaffirmed my commitment to protecting domestic interests and economic stability.
Writ To Import of Cow and Beef :
Recognizing the economic distress caused by soaring beef prices, I filed a writ petition to import cows and beef into Bangladesh. This action aimed to ensure food accessibility and affordability for Bangladeshi consumers.
Each of these cases represents more than a legal victory; they symbolize my unwavering commitment to the public interest, to justice, and to the welfare of the citizens of Bangladesh. I am dedicated to champion the causes that matter most to our society and will continue to do so with the utmost dedication and integrity.
